@00:30this really makes me wonder how long it took to make this. all of it is fast forwarded and so you can really gain a new respect especially in the part with the harbor because they have a pretty long section of clouds. i wish I had the patience to do that kind of thing...

Daily Deviation

Given 2010-01-20
Hong Kong Island Timelapse - by `geckokid A truly engaging and lovely short film. Time-lapse cinematography is difficult, time-consuming and challenging... so easy to get wrong. In this piece GeckoKid get a great number of things right and executes them beautifully. Strong visual compositions and well-planned time-lapse blend with the moody soundtrack to create a superior whole. When all of the elements of a film are original, the film becomes a more unique and singular experience, and we get a greater sense of the filmmaker's abilities. Great work, facinating to watch and just the right length... a sensory impression of Hong Kong that does not overstay its welcome. I look forward to more film work from GeckoKid. Well done. I really enjoyed the visual compositions and camera perspective. I found that music is what gives a special touch.
This video made me think about how the movement is what gives life to a city, so the city is alive.

@01:47This is the most amazing thing ever.
The sound fits so perfectly, and kinda creates that easy, busy atmosphere, but gives you at the same time this dark, unpredictable feeling of a good scary movie.
I love the lighting a lot, it helps supporting the atmosphere...and this is actually what makes this movie so extremly wonderful, it sucks you in...wooooow.

@01:47Wow... that was nothing short of amazing. The scenes captured from the street felt highly mechanical, like you were watching a piece of machinery at work while it repeated a single process over and over again. The scene within the harbor on the other hand felt highly organic as nothing ever stood still. I got the feeling I was watching a bunch of single cellular organisms as they were moving about. The soundtrack and lighting also helped setting the mood and made it easier for me to forget that it was actually a city I was watching and not some organism in a lab or piece of machinery in the works.
