I was the one who has the other side of the key
I am the only one who can unlock this blue cookie box
and find the koala biscuit with the tail I gave him
We were both hurt, but it doesn't matter now.
I don't know if you even care about how much this means to me, but it does to me, a lot.
and i love it

the print doesn't have the caligraphy. [link] - painting steps :] sorry about the re-appearence in your watchbox, I forgot to add the shadow under the key.
I keep finding myself coming back to this powerfully contextual painting, and I stare at it for a good while each time.
The stylised lizard (assumably a gecko given the symbology that you have explained in the comments and replies) has a real sense of character and personality; something evident in all of your paintings that I've had the pleasure of looking at.
The Koala cookie is similarly drawn with a great deal of character, and feels like it has a sense of solidity thanks to your shading and the reflections.
More than anything else, I am drawn in by the story that you communicate with the scene. Without reading the comments and replies above, the cookie is given heightened importance by it's quality as the only cookie in a relatively large container.
There is a clear history between the lizard and the container or cookie, shown by the separated tail, which suggests that there is some motive other than eating the cookie (given that the lizard has already had the opportunity and not done so). It is unclear as to why the lizard is returning to the container (with a regrowing tail), and the sense of history makes for an enjoyable feeling of occasion.
The lack of claws on the lizard, and the damage to the outside of the container give a feeling of age to the scene, and I really do love the broken key. It adds to an already contextual piece, and is drawn subtly enough that it does not scream for attention or draw from the key subjects.
A neutral background clearly has symbolic meaning as you have mentioned above, and from a separate artistic perspective it allows the subjects to remain the key focus without having to compete against a busy backdrop.
The attention to detail suggests that a strong vision has been followed and realised, reinforced by the careful composition of the scene.
Skilfully painted and reminiscent of modern media rendering, this is an interesting piece that can be enjoyed on however many levels the viewer chooses to enjoy it on.
I was able to gather what the basic story was from the comments here, but even without knowing, it was really touching. It's unique and conveys a very real and meaningful sense of emotion. Definitely favorite-ing this one.
This is so gorgeous. I can feel how important it is to you, and the comments you have fill it up. I keep coming back and looking at this picture. It's really beautiful, and the little details fill it up so nicely the more I inspect it. Great work. Gorgeous work.
This is an amazing piece of art! :] I like the scratch marks on the metal box, the reflection inside the box, and the longing and wistful look on the gecko's face. Did the gecko make the scrach marks while he tries to open it? I also like how new and shiny the inside of the box is, smooth and beautiful but almost cold. I guess nothing in the world is supposed to be new and beautiful all the time and now the lid is open, does this mean the koala cookie will be tainted by the world or possibly eaten? ;] It has kinda a Pandora's Box feel to it. Great work! :]
